Raisa Smetanina was a member of the Soviet Union team in cross country skiing for 20 years. She participated in five Olympic Games, with each returning with medals of the highest order. On her account – 10 Olympic medals (including four gold), 16 World Championships medals (7 gold), 50 medals of the USSR championships (21 gold), FIS Cross-Country World Cup season 1980-1981. She is the prize-winner of numerous international competitions, a multiple winner of the USSR Cup winner and prize winner of Olympics and the national championship. Raisa Smetanina is officially recognized the strongest skier of the world of the twentieth century, having a unique collection of titles, prizes and awards. In 1992, she left the big sports and starts coaching.

Museum of fourfold Olympic champion was established in 1997, two years later received the status of republican institution. It is located in the cottage, which was the gift for Raisa Smetanina from the Republic of Komi.

There are not only a variety of exhibits related to the fate of the legendary sports athletes, but also the materials telling about the history of ski racing of the second half of the twentieth century, as well as skiers of Komi of different times.
